    FreeD Printing is revolutionizing additive manufacturing with a robot-based, multidirectional modeling process. Compared to current 3D printing methods, components are built up from multiple directions using freely formed layers. This enables the reduction of support structures, thereby conserving resources; the application of material to freely formed surfaces to create new application possibilities; and the specification of grain directions to optimize the surface and strength of components.

    airCode is focused on developing a novel passive, chip-free radio-frequency tag technology that has the potential to reduce per-tag costs to less than a cent. This technology is designed for Logistics 4.0 and Industry 4.0 applications, with the aim of replacing barcodes.

  • Auxsys

    ,

    AUXSYS develops and manufactures high-performance active exoskeletons for a wide range of applications in disaster response, explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) and CBRN operations, firefighting, and emergency medical services. Exoskeletons are designed to relieve or assist their wearers during a wide variety of activities and feature components such as

    – sensors and analysis systems to determine the wearer’s intent to move,

    – real-time data networks within the exoskeleton for control,

    – highly efficient electronics and actuators to assist the wearer,

    – software for controlling and augmenting the exoskeleton and the wearer,

    – lightweight construction using carbon fiber-reinforced plastic.

  • BioThrust

    BioThrust develops customized aeration solutions for bioreactors. These include, on the one hand, highly porous agitators that simultaneously introduce gas bubbles into the reactor and provide better gas supply than conventional systems. On the other hand, BioThrust develops flow-optimized in-situ membrane modules that enable purely diffusive, bubble-free gas introduction while simultaneously ensuring very gentle circulation of the culture medium. This allows bioprocesses to be aerated up to 30 times more efficiently without foaming and ensures that even sensitive biosystems, such as cell cultures, are supplied with sufficient oxygen.

    Die Teilnahme am HIGH-TECH.NRW Accelerator hat sich für unser Team von BioThrust in vielerlei Hinsicht bezahlt gemacht. Als besondere Stärke dieses Accelerators sehe ich die gute Organisation und klare Struktur. Hier wird man richtig „umsorgt“. Faszinierend an diesem Programm ist die Diversität der Teilnehmenden Start-ups, man hat also einen sehr weiten Blick in die Technologie-Newcomer in NRW. Das Netzwerk ist dann auch schon einer der Hauptargumente für das Programm: Gerade weil die Ausrichtung branchenübergreifend ist, kommt es zu keiner Konkurrenzsituation und man kann viel voneinander lernen und bekommt neuen Input. Last but not least konnten wir mit dem zweiten Platz am Demo Day die Jury überzeugen und bekamen dafür viel mediale Aufmerksamkeit. Ich möchte anderen Tech-Start-ups den Accelerator ausdrücklich empfehlen und bedanke mich bei Heinz und Oliver für die starke Zusammenarbeit!

    Funktion* has developed the first all-in-one hardware and software solution for the apparel industry that enables the easy integration of smart functions into clothing. On the hardware side, the KontaktGrid*, a bus system consisting of cables and connectors specifically designed for textiles, forms the basis for power supply, connectivity, and the mechanical attachment of the functional modules. The functional modules integrated into the clothing cover the technology areas of sensors (accelerometers, magnetometers, thermometers, hygrometers, lux meters), actuators, lighting, heating, haptics, and batteries. On the software side, neural networks/AI are used. With Funktion*’s technology, smart textiles can be created for end users that, thanks to their modular architecture, are highly customizable and can be expanded in terms of functionality at any time.

    Today’s computer hardware is inefficient for artificial intelligence. Supercomputer centers require a great deal of time, massive datasets, and the energy of an entire power plant to train a complex AI model, resulting in high costs and a lack of sustainability. GEMESYS Technologies offers an analog chip design based on the same information-processing mechanisms as the human brain. This enables AI hardware providers to market a novel chip that trains neural networks 20,000 times more energy-efficiently than current technologies. This not only significantly reduces the costs, time, and data volume required to train a neural network but also enhances overall quality and performance. Thanks to its small size and high energy efficiency, it can be built into virtually any device and enables decentralized training, data processing, and on-site decision-making.

Das viele Feedback von Experten mit unterschiedlichem Knowhow hat es uns ermöglicht, unseren Businessplan und Investorenpitch stark weiterzuentwickeln und zu verstehen, auf was es bei Tech-Start-ups ankommt.

    Das Team hinter HIGH-TECH.NRW besteht aus echten Experten, welche die Deep-Tech Welt verstehen und einen hervorragenden Nährboden für echte technologische Innovationen in NRW schaffen. An alle Tech-Start-ups da draußen – wenn ihr eine Deep-Tech-Ausrichtung habt, dann ist HIGH-TECH.NRW ein Muss.

    GLIM Skin has developed a technology-based cosmetic product for personal use at home that uses plasma technology and blue light therapy to cleanse the skin without additives and stimulate microcirculation and cell renewal. This helps combat inflammatory skin irritations over the long term without side effects and supports the skin’s healing process in a sustainable way. An app-based control system allows for personalized treatment routines tailored to each individual’s skin type.

    Das HIGH-TECH.NRW-Programm ist insbesondere durch das Engagement des Teams und die individuelle Unterstützung, die man dort erfährt, absolut empfehlenswert. Durch die Fokussierung auf Hardware-Startups und gleichzeitiger Branchenoffenheit wird dort ein breites Netzwerk aus Startups geschaffen, in dem man sich auf Augenhöhe offen austauscht bei gleichzeitiger Hilfestellung durch etablierte BranchenkennerInnen.

    ,

    The proprietary Hot Die Forming (HDF) process developed by HoDforming for the hot forming of metals enables the production of ultra-lightweight components in key industries such as the automotive and aerospace sectors. HDF technology is highly energy-efficient and cost-effective and is used for metals and metal alloys with a melting point higher than 350°C, ideally for high-strength alloys, as this is where the advantages of the process for producing ultra-lightweight components are most clearly evident. Ultra-lightweight construction is a key technology for resource- and environmentally-friendly, low-carbon mobility of the future.

  • Icy 3D

    ,

    Icy 3D has developed a new optical-haptic sensor to improve data quality in various surface analysis scenarios. At the same time, the real-time processing pipelines deliver immediate 3D results, which can drastically reduce data acquisition and analysis times. The improved data quality enables the early detection of defects in the manufacturing process, thereby helping to reduce repair times and material waste. The Icy 3D sensor is particularly well-suited for use with materials that are difficult to measure, such as carbon fibers, glass, mirrors, or other reflective surfaces.

  • Innovative Robot Delivery

    Innovative Robot Delivery addresses “driverless” package and mail delivery with a holistic approach that encompasses the automation, digitization, and optimization of all distribution logistics processes. Every step in the process, whether physical or non-physical, is handled entirely through robotics and digital data processing, enabling continuous real-time optimization and minimization of all resources used. At the core of the business concept are so-called “parcel mobiles,” which combine a “mini-depot” or “mini-high-bay warehouse” for storing and transferring parcels with an electrically powered vehicle.

    In den 3 Monaten des HIGH-TECH.NRW Accelerator-Programms haben wir, Innovative Robot Delivery, uns in unfassbarer Geschwindigkeit einmal komplett gehäutet, was unsere Darstellung, unsere Argumentation und die Art des Präsentierens betrifft. Die Kombination aus realer Start-up-Erfahrung, breitem Netzwerk und vor allem dem Willen und der Bereitschaft, die teilnehmenden Start-ups jederzeit zu unterstützen (auch sonntags!!) und ernsthaft nach vorne zu bringen, macht dieses Programm so wertvoll.
    Abgesehen davon hatten wir auch echt viel Spaß. Gratulation an jedes Start-up, das es in dieses Programm schafft.
